CHRIST is my ROCK

Many years ago, I used to work in a company where the line of business is to manufacture explosives and accessories for mining companies requiring it for their exploration and mining activities. Digging tunnels is not easy since those are made of hard rocks or boulders hence requiring equipments, machineries, tools and explosives to create tunnel before miners could find ores and  minerals. Can you imagine how laborous it is for the miners to dig manually those tunnels?

In our life, we face daily explosives (big or small) that bring hole to our spiritual, emotional, psychological and mental well being. Sometimes, the explosives in our life are too big for us to handle. Like in mining, miners use different kinds and sizes of explosives to create holes and tunnels.

In our spiritual battle, Satan has his way of creating holes and tunnels in our life. His way is to pulverize us. Making us feel helpless – like boulders turn into rubbles then into dust.

When we face tough times, we should follow what David did when he was being hunted by Saul and his enemies. David hold on the LORD until he was delivered from the hand of Saul. In 2 Samuel 21:2-3. David sang to the LORD:

2 Samuel 21:2-3 (NIV) 2 He said:

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; 3 my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation.

He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—from violent people you save me.”

In the above verses, see how David trusted GOD being his fortress. Cambridge dictionary defined “fortress as a large, strong building or group or buildings that can be defended from attack.” Di ba grabe ang protection natin sa ating mga kaaway kapag tayo ay nakatago sa Fortress?

In Matthew 7:24-27, JESUS mentioned that HIS followers should be like a wise bulider who build his house on the rock that even heavy rain and streams of water rise plus strong wind blows, the house we build will remain standing.

Matthew 7 (NIV) 24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

As believers, GOD is our ROCK who is the

R – Redeemer and saviour of our sins

O – Omnipresent at any situation, any locations being

C – Christ, our Fortress. HE is the

K – Keeper and protector of HIS children

When we stand and trust on our ROCK, our GOD is ever loving that we receive:

R – Rewards from Our Father in Heaven by

O – Offering ourself for HIS glory as HIS

C – Children who always come to HIM and

K – Knock for HIS prudence, protection, provisions and power.

In 1 Corinthians and 1 Peter give us assurance that Christ is the ROCK of our life.

1 Corinthians 10:3-4 (NIV) 3 They all ate the same spiritual food 4 and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.

1 Peter 2:4-5 (NIV) 4 As you come to him, the living Stone —rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Kaya kapatid, let GOD be your ROCK like a fortress where we can seek protection from our enemies!

I hope you find encouragement on this article.

Laban lang Kapatid! Kapit kay LORD JESUS and enjoy the journey.

I praise and glorify our LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST for guiding me to write this article!
